The National Council for Geocosmic Research, Inc., (NCGR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the standards of astrological education and research. Though it began as “national,” NCGR’s current membership of about 2500 includes a growing number of international members. The organization’s activities include sponsoring local Chapters (currently 42 located in 26 states and 4 countries). Additionally, several Special Interest Groups (SIGs) cross wide geographical areas to foster dialogue among people of similar astrological specialties.

Professionally certified astrologers among NCGR members have passed all four levels of an education and testing program based on a comprehensive curriculum widely respected for its excellence and rigor. Though there is no requirement that NCGR members be practicing astrologers, over 1000 members have participated in the testing program at Level 1 or above and momentum is growing. A Code of Ethics, to which members are accountable, provides guidance for the practice of astrology.

NCGR annually sponsors an educational conference and publishes two issues of its magazine Geocosmic Journal plus six newsletters, Memberletter. A variety of other publications are produced intermittently, and tapes of conference lectures are also offered.

Joining or Renewing your NCGR Membership

Here is the new national NCGR process to become a member or renew your membership where each member is given an account with their member history. If you have been a member and create a new account, your account history will be broken. To avoid this, follow steps 1-4 below.

  • If you want to become a new member, select “Become A Member” and select “CA San Diego” in the Chapter dropdown.
  • If you have been an NCGR member and want to renew, do not select “Become A Member”, as this will create an unnecessary account. Instead, follow these steps:
  1. Go to>
  1. Login using your: User ID (sent in a previous email—see below for more on the User ID) and the Temporary Password: NCGR2020 (After renewing, you should change this temporary password to one of your own.)
  2. Click “Join Us”
  3. Click “Renew Membership” and continue with the renewal process, and select “CA San Diego” in the Chapter dropdown

With the individual User ID and the above Password, the system is designed to recognize an existing individual account and the system will bring the account to the foreground.

Concerning the User ID: the username/ID can be found on the emails sent 15, 7 and 3 days prior to expiration dates. Please check through your emails to find your username/ID; look for the subject line: “IT IS TIME TO RENEW.”
